Rebel Music

Often times when you hear the words Rebel Music, you think of Bob Marley and the Wailers. But there is more to it than just that. Since Bob Marley, there have been numerous artists that have taken on this role of being a Rebel and casting away the ideas of Babylon. They have made it their personal duty to educate everyone on the importance it is to love each other unconditionally. To be able to look at your enemy and say “I do not hate you rather I love you because I know that there is good deep within you”. Rebel Music makes us feel good. It’s not always the tunes you hear booming out of the speakers in concerts or in the clubs. Sometimes it’s the mellow ones that you play when riding in the car or on a bad day. It’s soul, it’s heart, it’s togetherness.

Being a rebel isn’t always an easy thing to do. As human beings, it’s natural to want to conform to the ways of society. But we were not all made to be the same. We are different. We come from different backgrounds, have different beliefs. Rebel music says “I am different, I am proud of that difference and there is nothing you can say or do to me to change that”.

In the beginning we had artists such as Bob Marley, Peter tosh, Capleton, Sizzla. Today we have younger artists carrying on their their legacy. There’s Demarco, Gyption, Bugle to name some of my favorites. Their tunes are uplifting, you can never go wrong.  Rebel music is changing the world. Everyday there are more and more listeners that join in on the message being presented. More or more people that are joining the fight for redemption in the hopes that one day there truly will be one love for all. Everyday there are more and more people that are turning away from the violence that is killing our community. Everyday!

Rebel Music gives you something positive to look forward to. Something to appreciate. When all else goes wrong and your world turns in to chaos, you know you can plug in your earphones and the rebel music will keep you grounded. Most of you won;t understand what I’m talking about and that’s ok. All it means is that you still have a long way to go. More lessons to learn, more friends and family to lose. At some point you will learn that you are your own individual with your own uniqueness. When you come around, the rebel music will be here for you always.

Rest in peace Bob Marley, Marcus Garvey. You lived to promote the Salassie way…Jah Bless
